NMEA to hold ConnectFest at Miami show

SEVERNA PARK, Md. – The National Marine Electronics Association will hold the NMEA 2000 ConnectFest Feb. 18 as part of the Miami International Boat Show at the Miami Convention Center, NMEA reported in a release today.

The NMEA 2000 ConnectFest will demonstrate the interconnectivity and interoperability from different electronic manufacturers at a live demonstration, including Airmar, Blue Water Data, CPAC Systems (Volvo), Evinrude, Faria, Maretron, Molex, Raymarine, Simrad, Teleflex, Yanmar and Yamaha.

The presentation will highlight manufacturers that currently have NMEA 2000 certified products, and will show how “plug and play” devices can work successfully on a NMEA 2000 network backbone.

“The NMEA 2000 Standard vision provides a foundation for safe and reliable ‘plug and play’ of devices on vessels,” said Steve Spitzer, NMEA technical director. “NMEA 2000 allows disparate electronic devices to ‘talk’ to each other on a common dependable single network backbone. With NMEA 2000 certified products on a NMEA 2000 built network, vessels now can choose the electronics that best suit their needs and still have the ability to cross communicate critical data to the different electronic equipment.”
