MRAA creates Kevin Lodder scholarship

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA) has created a scholarship in honor of Kevin Lodder, it reported in a statement today.

Kevin Lodder of Lodder Marine in Fairfield, Ohio, lost his life in a freak accident in June 2003, according to the association. Kevin was the son of a long-time industry dealer, Sonny Lodder.

The Lodder family has been an active and respected contributor to recreational boating in many areas, said MRAA. They have strived to be the very best for their customers, suppliers and fellow dealers and Kevin was a leading proponent in making this happen, the association stated.

MRAA is establishing the scholarship in honor of Kevin. Many of Kevin’s friends and associates are making substantial gifts in his memory to the scholarship fund. Anyone interested in becoming a contributor with a one time donation or a multi-year pledge should contact MRAA at 708-763-9210 or mraa@mraa.com.

The Kevin Lodder Scholarship will be administered by the MRAA Educational Foundation NFP, but will be set up as a separate entity within the foundation, according to the association. The corpus will remain there forever with only the earnings being used each year for the education of the recipient. Present plans are for the scholarship to assist young men and women in their educational efforts to pursue a career in marine dealerships in the sales and marketing departments, MRAA stated.
