EPA Administrator recognizes two Nevada marinas

LAS VEGAS – Governor Michael Leavitt, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, recently presented the EPA’s National Performance Track awards to two Nevada marinas, Forever Resorts’ Black Canyon/Willow Beach River Adventures and Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina.

The EPA Performance Track award was presented to Rex Maughan, president of Forever Resorts, Ron Deeb, general manager Black Canyon/Willow Beach River Adventures, Tom Burnside, general manager Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina and John Schoppmann, executive vice president Forever Resorts.

“We are beginning a new century where our objective needs to be to maintain the environmental progress we’re making to enhance the rate of our progress but do it in a way that maintains our capacity as a nation to remain economically competitive,” Leavitt said. “That’s why the Performance Track Program is so important. These are companies that have committed themselves not just to meet standards, but to exceed them. Not just to do it on time, but to do it faster.”

Performance Track is a public/private partnership recognizing top environmental performance among participating U.S. facilities of all types, sizes, and complexity, both public and private. Program partners are providing leadership in many areas, including preventing pollution at its source. Currently there are 344 Performance Track Members in the United States.
