Brandy Marine completes Costa Rican marina study

SARASOTA, Fla. – Marina consultant/developer/operator Brandy Marine has completed an analysis of the marketing potential for a marina under consideration on Costa Rica’s Peninsula Papagayo Resort in the Guanacaste area on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific coast, the company said today in a release.

Bruce Blomgren, Brandy Marine CEO, said the study included a report on the area demographics, marinas, vessel types and uses, and other considerations plus a design concept. Brandy also conducted revenue and expense pro formas for five years of operations.

Brandy performed the study for Marina Papagayo working with Costa Rica’s High Commission of Tourist Marinas and Piers. Earlier this year, Blomgren and officials of Miami developer Bermello, Ajamil & Partners hosted an official delegation from Costa Rica visiting South Florida to learn more about U.S. marinas and marina regulations.

The proposed marina is part of the second phase of development for the 2,300-acre resort. Phase one included a Four Seasons Resort and an Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, both of which are now complete.
