Seattle Boat Show continues to grow

SEATTLE – The Seattle Boat Show, already the West Coast’s biggest boat show, is set to top itself by offering the largest-ever selection of watercraft for fishing, cruising and family fun in its history, the Northwest Marine Trades Association reported in a statement yesterday.

The show, which is scheduled to run January 14-23, will take place at Qwest Field Event Center and on the water at Chandler’s Cove on Lake Union and will once again be co-produced by NMTA and the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association.

A new expanded concourse at Qwest Field Event Center will give showgoers more product choices, reported NMTA. More than 1,000 boats, including fishing boats, inboard cruisers, runabouts, kayaks, sailboats and inflatables, and hundreds of accessories will be showcased indoors by 516 exhibitors.

In addition, a larger 30,000 square-foot Fishing Center will offer more boats, tackle and gear than ever before, plus a stage for more than 30 fishing seminars.

An attempt to build the world’s largest Lego boat is one of numerous promotions that include a wooden boat center where families will build their own wooden skiffs during the show. Showgoers can also enter to win a free, weekend boat rental from Cope & McPhetres.

“The boat show’s growing size and popularity mirrors the continued rise in recreational boat sales throughout the Northwest,” said Michael Campbell, NMTA president. “The ongoing collaboration of the NYBA and NMTA means greater selection, convenience and enjoyment.”
