West Marine selects grand-prize winner
WATSONVILLE, Calif. – Boating retailer West Marine has revealed the grand-prize winner of its nationwide 36th anniversary promotion, the company said in a statement yesterday.
Dale Evans, of Wilsonville, Ore., was selected as the winner. An avid fisherman and boater on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, Evans will receive a 21-foot Hunter sailboat, a $1,000 West Marine shopping spree and a selection of Raymarine electronics.
“I still can’t believe that I won,” Evans said. “I entered the sweepstakes when I was at West Marine to get some offshore lifejackets that were on sale and never in my wildest dreams expected to win a new sailboat. It’s by far the biggest thing I’ve ever won.”
Evans’ prize was awarded at the Portland, Ore., West Marine store.
“In the spirit of making boating more fun, we’re pleased to recognize a valued customer as part of West Marine’s nationwide 36th anniversary celebration,” said Wheeler Edwards, Northwest district manager for West Marine. “We hope that Dale will enjoy sailing his new grand prize Hunter sailboat for many years to come.”
