MRAA bestows its Legislative Awards

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America has honored state Rep. Jim Guest (5th District of Mo.) and state Rep. Jim Whorton (3rd District of Mo.) with its Legislator of the Year Award, MRAA said in a recent press release.

The awards were bestowed at the MRAA Convention in Las Vegas. The legislators were honored for their outstanding support of marine retailers by working tirelessly to pass the Missouri Dealer Bill, MRAA Chairman John Sima said.

“The passage of the Missouri Dealer Bill, because of the work of the bill sponsor Rep. Jim Guest and co-sponsor Rep. Jim Whorton, enhances the professionalism of Missouri dealers and will greatly help grow boating,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA president. “The Missouri Dealer Bill goes a long way in raising the bar of the dealer/manufacturer relationship that will greatly benefit the consumer. I wish all dealers in our country had the same relationship with manufacturers as the Missouri dealers have now.”

“I have long championed the development of small business especially in small and medium size towns to create Missouri jobs,” Guest said. “By bringing equality in the dealer/manufacturer relationship between boat dealers and their manufacturers with other businesses that sell to Missourians, we will ensure dealers will be there when boat buyers need them and when people who work in small towns need them. I’m honored to have led the effort to pass the Missouri Dealer Bill. It’s a WIN-WIN for Missourians.”

MRAA said it has long supported passage of dealer bills to enhance the buying experience of recreational boaters and congratulates the efforts of Missouri legislators, especially the leadership of Jim Guest and Jim Whorton, for a job well done.
