WYOMING, Minn. – Pontoon manufacturer Premier Marine has been named Water Works Wonders Manufacturer of the Year by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, the company reported in a press release yesterday.
The award recognizes boating manufacturers and retailers who have excelled in supporting the efforts of the Water Works Wonders campaign to create awareness and promote the benefits of recreational boating and fishing and the importance of environmental stewardship.
“We’re honored to be this year’s recipient of this prestigious award,” said Bob Menne, president of Premier Marine. “I’m pleased that we have been successful in communicating the message that boating is more than an afternoon on the water.”
Premier’s advertising theme, “It’s not about boating, it’s about family,” appeared in its marketing materials in the form of a product catalog, full-page ads, and dealer posters and banners.
That message helped the company sell out its 2004 inventory, due in part to the success of the campaign, Premier said.
“The emphasis on family togetherness gives a more humanist approach to the message we’re trying to send,” Menne said. “Our photography, for instance, emphasized the connection between family and friends with boating as a backdrop, rather than the other way around.”
Each year the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, a non-profit boating advocacy organization, honors one retailer and one manufacturer from the fishing and boating industry. Past recipients include News England-based Russo Marine and Washington’s Glacier Bay Catamarans.
Premier was recognized as this year’s award winner at an Oct. 27 ceremony during the International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition and Conference at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Florida.
