B&G acquires Sailmath
CLEARWATER, Fla. – B&G, a subsidiary of marine electronics manufacturer Simrad, has acquired the rights to Sailmath technology and products – a technology line featuring the Wave Technology Processor and Deckman for Windows tactical software. Both of these are used widely by racing teams and navigators, Simrad said in a recent statement.
This acquisition will enable further integration of this advanced technology with B&G equipment, Simrad reported.
“Sailmath technology is a perfect match and an ideal partner for B&G and Simrad,” said Rob Law, director of B&G USA. “By combining our technology with theirs, we’ll be able to expand our capabilities and provide sailors with even greater performance in the future.”
WTP is a flexible platform that allows for custom solutions for special projects, enhancing B&G’s capability to provide customers with technology ideally suited for specific racing needs and applications, according to the company.
Sailmath’s DfW software can be linked to all current B&G instrument systems and provides navigators with accurate tactical and weather based information. Designed to improve performance in both inshore and offshore racing, it is used on RaceVision2, B&G’s waterproof, marinized on-deck PC, the company reported.
“The strategy regarding the acquisition of this technology is to strengthen and leverage B&G’s position in the premium race sectors of the market,” said Jan Berner, president of Simrad worldwide. “WTP and DfW are very complementary to B&G’s existing product range, and naturally enhance the H2000 system.”
