Seldén Mast Ltd. moves to new home
HAMPSHIRE, U.K. – During the early part of November, Seldén Mast Ltd. will be moving from its 40-year-old factory in Park Gate to a state-of-the-art custom designed facility on the waterfront near Fareham Reach – approximately 6 miles east of the current site – the company said in a release today.
Seldén said its new 50,000-square-foot facility will give it “unprecedented opportunities to supply the highest quality spars within short lead times.”
The new site will have more automated production methods and a much larger capacity, but the major investment has been in the carbon bay. A 20-meter auto-clave has already been installed and an extension to the filament-winding machine has now commenced, which will enable the production of one-piece 20-meter carbon spar sections.
“The new opportunities that this £4million investment will bring will be the ‘springboard’ for excellence in spar manufacture and supply in both carbon and alloy,” the company wrote in its release. “The Seldén team takes great pride in producing race-winning masts.”
