Genmar honors suppliers

MINNEAPOLIS – Genmar Holdings’ boat brands recognized the support and contributions of their suppliers with an appreciation dinner during the Brands of Genmar 2005 Dealer Meeting last week in Las Vegas, the company reported in a statement today.

In addition, a number of the brands recognized the suppliers with the first ever Genmar Special Recognition, Innovation and Supplier of the Year Awards, Genmar stated.

Criteria for winning the Genmar Awards were quality, delivery, cost, innovation and performance. Each boat brand voted the award winners from among the many suppliers it uses.

Genmar Chairman Irwin Jacobs and Roger Cloutier, president, acknowledged the vital role the suppliers play in the success of Genmar, citing product and process innovations they provide, the company said. Ron Purgiel, senior vice president, purchasing for Genmar, was master of ceremonies.

The suppliers receiving recognition and the boat companies voting the awards were:

  • Carver Yachts presented its Special Recognition Award to Mike Bingen, Kohler Company. Its Innovation Award went to Bob Dahr, Architectural Panel Products and Supplier of the Year to Greg Cole, Inland Detroit Diesel.
  • Four Winns Boats selected John Hauser, Total Energy Systems, for its Special Recognition Award. The Innovation Award went to Clint Moore, Volvo Penta and Supplier of the Year was awarded to Tim and Steve MacEachem of Inland Plywood.
  • Larson and Glastron Boats presented Special Recognition to Don Zirkelbach, Ameritex Industries; Its Innovation Award went to Tom Steckbeck, Sirius Satellite Radio and Supplier of the Year honors went to Nick Lamp, Falls Distribution.
  • Ranger Boats presented Johnny Brannon, Charging Systems International, with its Special Recognition Award. Jeff Huntley, T-H Marine Supplies, earned Supplier of the Year honors.
  • Seaswirl Boats bestowed its Special Recognition Award to Jack Schoenthaler, Michigan Composites; its Innovation Award went to Pat Brown, Teak Isle Manufacturing. And Supplier of The Year honors went to Harry Haddad and Glen Brown of BH Electronics.
  • Stratos and Champion Boats gave its Special Recognition Award to Bernie Goettker, Unique Functional Products, its Innovation Award to Jeff Huntley, T-H Marine Supplies and Supplier of The Year Award to Greg Carmen, Llebroc Industries.
  • Triumph Boats recognized Veada Industries, Inc. for the Special Recognition Award. Carolina Towers was recognized with its Innovation Award and Dennis Bugos, Universal Products, received the Supplier of the Year Award.
  • Wellcraft Marine presented its Special Recognition Award to Ron Schmitt, G.G. Schmitt & Sons. Its Innovation Award was awarded to Doug Hubbard of Alcan Baltek and the Supplier of the Year Award was given to Don Zirkelbach, Ameritex Technologies.
  • Master of Ceremonies Purgiel presented the Genmar Holdings awards for overall appreciation. Its Special Recognition Awards went to Kelly Lynch, Reichhold and Butch Pitts, North American Composites. The Innovation Award went to Tom Steckbeck, Sirius Satellite Radio and Harold Visser, of Saint Gobain-Vetrotex was awarded the overall Supplier of the Year Award.
