Land ‘N’ Sea joins some operations with Mercury Marine
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Latin American and Caribbean sales operations for Land ‘N’ Sea will relocate to Mercury Marine’s Latin American and Caribbean headquarters in Miramar, Fla., effective Sept. 17, Land ‘N’ Sea said in a press release this morning.
The move is part of a continuing strategy by Brunswick Corp. to grow the rapid delivery capabilities of Land ‘N’ Sea geographically as well as leverage Mercury’s distribution infrastructure in Latin America, according to Land ‘N’ Sea.
“By leveraging the in-country warehousing facilities of Mercury Marine LAC, as well as its extensive in-country sales force, we feel we can provide our customers with improved customer service and more frequent visits,” said Tom Schuessler, chief operating officer of Land ‘N’ Sea. “This opportunity will also allow us to service the general marine supply needs of local government agencies, a channel previously not available to Land ’N’ Sea.”
Charley Flores, general manager, Mercury Marine LAC, said that although nothing will change initially for Land ‘N’ Sea customers, with product being shipped from Land ‘N’ Sea’s Pompano Beach distribution center, by early 2005 his company intends to supplement with in-country service from its facilities in Mexico and Brazil.
“Customers of both Land ‘N’ Sea and Mercury Marine will benefit from this transition, as they will now have the ability to place one order with one vendor for all their marine parts and accessories needs, whether that be engine parts or boating accessories,” Flores said. “We will continue to leverage Land ‘N’ Sea’s exclusive Seachoice brand of boating accessories, as well as handle all product lines currently sold by Land ‘N’ Sea in the region.”
