Taylor Made Systems acquires Trend Marine

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – Glazing systems supplier Taylor Made Systems announced yesterday that it has acquired Trend Marine Products, a United Kingdom-based manufacturer of high-end marine glazing.

Trend will retain its manufacturing facilities, product lines and customers, but will operate as a division of Taylor Made Systems.

“We have always held Trend in very high regard for the quality of their products and their customer focus,” said Dennis Flint, president of the Taylor Made Group. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to put our two companies together to create a truly global supplier with a very much enhanced product range.”

Randy Parker, president of Taylor Made Systems said there is very little overlap between the product ranges of the two companies, with Taylor Made having traditionally served the high-volume market in the U.S., while Trend’s principal customers are high-end motor-yacht manufacturers in the U.K. and U.S.

“Operational management of Trend will remain as it was prior to the acquisition,” said Andy Jobbins, managing director of Trend. “We believe that joining forces with Taylor Made will strengthen Trend’s market position and enable us to serve better our many valued customers and growing market in the U.S.”

Trend’s background

Founded in 1973, Trend Marine Products Ltd. has supplied major U.K. boat manufacturers for many years, beginning with Fairline and Princess in 1975, Sunseeker in 1979 and Sealine in 1986. More recently, the company has turned its attention overseas and counts Carver Yachts, Tiara, Westport, Hatteras and Hinckley among its major American customers, as well as supplying Riviera in Australia, Gulf Craft, Windy and several Taiwanese yards.

The company has expanded significantly over the past six years, doubling its turnover and investing in excess of £5m in new factory space and a CNC glass cutting, toughening and bending plant. The company currently employs 300 people at its 12-acre site in northeast Norfolk.
