HICKORY, N.C. – HK Research Corp., a marine coatings manufacturer, will raise its prices on polyester gel coats, vinyl ester gel coats, polyester resin and liquid pigment systems by $0.08 per pound – effective for orders shipped on or after Sept. 20 – the company said in a release yesterday.
David Higgins, HK’s national sales manager, said the increase is directly tied to the rising costs of raw materials, but noted that HK has been able to offset some of the increase it will pass on.
“While price increases are never a welcome sight, the HK increase is 20-percent lower than the increases announced by others [in the industry],” Higgins said. “We have made marked improvements in internal efficiencies of our automated facility and are able to pass these along to our valued partners. Through forward thinking and quick reaction, the internal changes made by HK will help our gel coat customers remain competitive in their market.”
