World Publications wins 21 trophies at Charlie Awards

WINTER PARK, Fla. – World Publications earned 21 trophies, the company’s most ever, at the 2004 Charlie Awards presented over the weekend by the Florida Magazine Association, the company said in a recent release.

The FMA honored World’s magazines alongside other Florida-based publications at its annual conference this past weekend.

World took home five first-place awards (known as the “Charlie”) and swept the categories of Best Overall Design and Best Feature Design. Garden Design led the way with six awards, followed closely by five for Caribbean Travel & Life. Sport Diver earned three awards, while Boating Life and Wake Boarding each won two trophies.

Caribbean Travel & Life won three Charlies in the major categories of Best Cover, Best Overall Design and Best Special Theme Issue. Two silver awards came in Best Feature and Best Feature Design.

“Our mission has been to bring the Caribbean to life through our use of superb photography and design, and this shows we’re succeeding,” says Bob Friel, editor-in-chief of Caribbean Travel & Life. “I’m really happy for our design director, Santa Bogdon, and art director Emilie Whitcomb. These honors recognize their creative talent.”
