Miami River Marine Industries Symposium is scheduled

MIAMI – The Miami River Marine Industries Symposium is scheduled to be held Sept. 27 at the Hyatt Regency at 400 S.E. Second Ave. in Miami, according to a recent press release.

The one-day symposium will focus on providing detailed information on the maintenance dredging of the Miami River’s federal navigable channel, scheduled to commence in October 2004, and an overview of several available economic incentive programs in order to attract new and expanding Marine Industrial businesses to the appropriate sections of the Miami River.

Congresswoman Iliana Ros-Lehtinen has been confirmed as a keynote speaker and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has been invited to speak.

The symposium will feature “break- out sessions” on shipping, lead by Kevin Horn, recreational boatyards and mega-yachts, lead by Tom Murray, marinas, marine supply and service, commercial and recreational fishing, business incentives and a river boat tour.

The Miami River Marine Industries Symposium is sponsored by the Maritime Administration, Marine Industries Association of South Florida, Miami River Marine Group, State of Florida, Miami-Dade County, Hyatt Regency, Bean Environmental, and Weston Solutions.
