MRAA urges participation in freight program

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America said yesterday that 359 members enrolled in its MRAA Freight Program have amassed a total savings in the last twelve months of $59,119.30.

The program, which is administered by PartnerShip out of Dayton, Ohio, provides reduced rates on FedEx express and ground and Yellow Transit shipments, according to the MRAA press release.

PartnerShip is presently working in conjunction with FedEx in contacting industry suppliers to inform them about the MRAA program and answer any questions they may have if they are requested to follow routing instructions from the MRAA participating members.

At the present time approximately a dozen suppliers, including many large accessory distributors and engine manufacturers, have indicated a willingness to comply with routings. All members are encouraged to contact their suppliers.

“Freight charges have always played a large part in the cost structure for dealers and having the ability to lower them obviously enhances the profits they make,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA President. “If a dealer isn’t involved in this effort to curtail costs, they need to be.”
