MDRA design conference to premiere at IBEX

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Marine Design Resource Alliance will host the first “The Business of Color” conference Oct. 26 during the 2004 International Boatbuilders’ Exhibition & Conference, the MDRA said this morning in a release.

The event will be moderated by MRDA members, in conjunction with a nationally recognized design professional from outside the recreational marine industry, and is part of the MDRA’s ongoing effort to educate the marine industry about the importance of interior and exterior design and styling in driving marine product sales.

“We’re excited to be partnering with the National Marine Manufacturers Association and the producers of IBEX for what we believe will be a highly informative and dynamic presentation,” said Peter Granata, MDRA president. “We are confident that attendees will walk away with important information and insights into how styling and design can excite boating consumers and drive sales.”

Discussion topics include color and design trends, buying and market trends, outside influences and more. An examination of three consumer industries that impact marine design – home fashion, apparel fashion and automotive, will also be conducted. Presenters from each of these industries will outline the importance of styling and design in exciting customers.

“We see design as an integral part of the selling process” said Paige Mullis, MDRA’s Color Waves program director.

Attendance is by invitation only and will be limited to 75 participants. Reporters and editors from boating and non-boating publications also will be invited.
