Traffic doubles on boats.com site

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Internet marketplace boats.com doubled its site traffic in June 2004 compared to June 2003, the company said as it released its manufacturers’ rankings for that month last Friday.

“boats.com site traffic in June was up over 100 percent from last year and sets another new record for us and our clients” said Paul Rabe, president, CEO and co-founder, boats.com Inc. “The relative lack of movement in the top-20 positions accurately reflects summer patterns and the general status quo ahead of the new boat show season.”

The only changes to any of the top-five spots on either the powerboat or sailboat lists took place in the new powerboat category – where Glastron moved into the third spot – and in the sailboat category, where Hunter moved into the third position.

The boats.com rankings are based on the most popular consumer searches by brands, new and pre-owned, at the Web site’s online marketplace. The boats.com top-20 list is published monthly and reflects traffic data on all manufacturers and models available on boats.com Inc.’s Net Access Program.

Top power brands

On the boats.com power top-20 list, new, Tracker and Lund remained in first and second places respectively with Glastron moving into third. Sun Tracker was fourth, and Tahoe fifth, while Larson moved up four places into seventh with Zodiac, Hurricane and Chaparral re-entering in 18th, 19th and 20th respectively.

The boats.com power top-20 list, pre-owned, showed no change in the top-7 places, with Sea Ray, Bayliner, Wellcraft, Carver, Chris-Craft, Boston Whaler and Regal holding those spots in that order. Maxum moved into eighth place, with Four Winns ninth and Baja 10th.

Top sailing brands

On the boats.com sailing top-20 list, new, Beneteau and Laser remained in first and second with Hunter moving up one spot into third place. Hinckley was fourth and American Sail fifth, while Tartan re-entered the top-20 in 19th position.
