MRAA supports Key West model year change

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America has publicly applauded Key West Boats Inc. for moving its model change date back one month – from July 1 to August 1, it reported in a statement today.

The change was made by William “Hutch” Holsenberg, owner of Key West Boats, Inc., after the results of a survey of their dealers indicated that they unanimously supported the idea of a later model year introduction.

“This is a perfect example of a boat manufacturer listening to their dealer network,” commented John Sima, MRAA chairman. “Key West’s survey indicated dealers needed the prime selling time of early summer to move their current product at the very highest of margins. The listened and reacted, and the whole supply chain will benefit.”

After 20 years of supporting a model year change, MRAA has been disappointed in general with the lack of industry support for it. However, MRAA President Phil Keeter said that Key West’s decision was a “great example of industry cooperation.”
