NMMA, boats.com launch Web Awards

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The National Marine Manufacturers Association and boats.com have begun an awards program to recognize excellence in Web site design and content in the North American marine industry, boats.com said in a release yesterday.

The 2005 North American Marine Industry Web Awards are composed of five categories, honoring different segments the Web sites of which demonstrate creativity in design, ease of navigation and up-to-date, relevant content. The categories are:

  • Best OEM/Manufacturer Site – For boat manufacturers.
  • Best Marine Equipment Site – For equipment manufacturers.
  • Best Dealer/Broker Site – For power or sailboat dealers and brokers.
  • Best Marine Site – Overall – For all marine Web sites.
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Online Marine Industry – Open to any individual who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Internet within the industry.
  • The judging panel is being assembled and will comprise a person nominated by boats.com and the NMMA, plus three Internet professionals with appropriate credentials and experience from outside of the industry. Winning companies will receive a trophy designed by Tony Castro at an awards ceremony during the 2005 Miami International Boat Show.

“With the active involvement and support of the NMMA, we felt that the time had come to publicly recognize on an annual basis companies whose Web sites excel,” said Paul Rabe, president, CEO and co-founder of boats.com, Inc.

To nominate a company or an individual, complete the online application on the new awards Web site: www.boats.com/nawebawards/index.html, which includes all relevant award information.
