TowBoatU.S. opens fifth Delaware location
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – TowBoatU.S. New Castle has become the fifth TowBoatU.S. port in Delaware, recently joining the on-the-water towing service, TowBoatU.S. said today.
Located at New Castle just south of Battery Park near the entrance of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, TowBoatU.S. New Castle is owned by Capt. Bob Hartman and operated by Capt. James Christiansen. It is the third port for Capt. Hartman, who also owns TowBoatU.S. Neshaminy and TowBoatU.S. Philadelphia, according to the release.
TowBoatU.S. New Castle will operate a 30-foot red Sportcraft towboat and cover the Bay from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to Ship John Shoal, TowBoatU.S. said.
“With little local knowledge, transient boaters sometimes get into trouble by cutting the buoys short looking for the entrance to the C&D Canal,” Hartman said. “If you do go aground, we can be there in minutes.”
