Nova signs agreement to develop electric marine engines

TORRANCE, Calif. – Nova Communications Ltd. – which earlier this year entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to close a merger with PowerSki International, designer and manufacturer of the PowerSki Jetboard – has entered into a joint-venture agreement to develop an electric-propulsion engine for the marine industry, the company said in a press release today.

The company said it had identified a specific need for electric marine propulsion in areas around the world with strict environmental guidelines for gasoline-powered watercraft propulsion. Nova has selected Armor Enterprises, Inc. as its joint-venture partner in the development of a new electric powered water pump propulsion system.

Armor Enterprises designs, manufactures, and distributes electric battery-power drive systems for land and water vehicles, according to the company.

“In the past, the challenge with electric marine propulsion has been the ability to provide enough thrust and adequate battery power and life,” said Ken Owen, Nova Communications CEO. “Our successful development of a marine propulsion system with maximum thrust would not only meet Nova’s product development needs to open up an entirely new market, but would also meet a great demand across a number of marine propulsion applications.”
