Sea-Fire receives Presidential E-Award

BALTIMORE – Fire-suppression equipment manufacturer Sea-Fire Marine has been recognized with the Presidential E-Award for excellence in exporting for its “competitive achievements in world markets and in increasing U.S. exports abroad,” the company said in a recent release.

Ernie Ellis, president of Sea-Fire, accepted the award – which the company said was the highest honor the federal government can give to an American exporting company – from Commerce Secretary Don Evans.

“Sea-Fire Marine is a great example of how small-business innovation and ingenuity are working to build economic opportunity across our nation,” Evans said.

Sea-Fire began exporting in 1996, with exports accounting for 3 percent of total sales. Over the past three years, export sales have grown to nearly 40 percent of the company’s total sales and it has added 12 employees, according to Sea-Fire.
