Chicago Boat Show wins Silver Trumpet Award
CHICAGO – The Chicago Boat, RV and Outdoors Show has received the Silver Trumpet Award for its “Discover Boating Backpack” promotion at last summer’s show, the National Marine Manufacturers Association said in a release this morning.
The Publicity Club of Chicago presented the award for outstanding achievement in public relations, after the Chicago Boat Show teamed up with the Chicago Public Library to offer the Discover Boating Backpack program at eight branches of the Chicago Library.
The program – designed to assist parents in focusing their children’s learning around the theme of boating and fishing – targeted children from six- to nine-years-old, giving each a backpack with books, a compass, a giant catfish puppet, a tape measure for sizing up prize-winning catches, knot tying instructions and a boating-safety activity book, according to the association.
“We are honored to be recognized for this outstanding community program,” said Jennifer Faulk, show manager. “The true achievement, however, is the hundreds of families who have utilized the Discover Boating Backpacks and introduced their families to the joys of boating and fishing.”
