Crystal-Pierz Marine sponsors Lake Cleanup Day
MINNEAPOLIS – Crystal-Pierz Marine, in conjunction with the Minnesota Lakes Association, will sponsor the 2004 Crystal-Pierz Marine Lake Cleanup Day this Saturday, June 19, to preserve the health and beauty of area lakes, the company said in press release yesterday.
The cleanup efforts will take place along the shores of dozens of lakes in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. It will include, but is not limited to, lakes surrounding all 11 Crystal-Pierz Marine locations, according to the boat dealer.
“We’re in the third year of the Crystal-Pierz Marine Lake Cleanup Day,” said Luke Kujawa, Crystal-Pierz Marine vice president. “We started the event with the long-term goal of helping to protect and preserve the health of area lakes. We see the lake cleanup as a way to connect with our communities and work together to show our commitment to these environmental treasures we sometimes take for granted.”
Crystal-Pierz Marine will provide trash bags and boats for participants at prearranged locations to assist in cleanup of islands, lake bottoms and shorelines. Experts will also be on hand to educate the public about the 3-M’s- milfoil, mussels and motorboats and the impact of each on the health and safety of area lakes, the retailer stated.
Volunteers will meet at Crystal-Pierz Marine locations for instruction, a bite to eat and bags to collect trash at the area lake of their choice. In addition, participating lake associations will be provided with their own supply of “turnkey cleanup kits,” including bags, brochures, posters etc., to distribute to individuals and/or community groups interested in hosting their own cleanup effort, Crystal-Pierz said.
“The Minnesota Lakes Association appreciates Crystal-Pierz Marine’s support in leaving a legacy of clean lakes by helping to engage the public in a strong stewardship ethic towards Minnesota’s sky blue waters,” commented Paula West, MLA executive director.
