Westport Yachts on pace to surpass 2003 production levels

EVERETT, Wash. – Westport Yachts is on pace to surpass its eight-yacht manufacturing total in 2003, after the completion and delivery of its fifth and sixth vessels through the first five months of 2004, the company said in a release today.

An ongoing effort to expand capacity at its shipyards, and sales increases at recent yacht shows, has helped Westport achieve its current pace, the company reported.

“We attribute our sales growth as much to the attributes of our company and build philosophy as to the popularity of the yachts themselves,” Westport CEO David Jones said. “We have upgraded existing yards to incorporate the latest computer-aided manufacturing and advanced composite technologies.”

Jones said Westport’s dual initiatives of facilities expansion and process engineering have enabled it to meet increased demand while maintaining high standards of quality in design and construction.
