Island Packet ships its 2,000th yacht
LARGO, Fla. – Island Packet Yachts recently shipped it 2,000th yacht and kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration at the same time, according to a company press release.
The yacht, an Island Packet 420, was also the 100th edition of that model to be built. It was ordered by Gratitude Yachting Center of Rock Hall, Md., for display at the 2004 US Sailboat Show in Annapolis this October.
Founded in 1979 by president and CEO Bob Johnson, Island Packet Yachts has remained under the same ownership and direction since its inception, and has now designed and built 22 different models, with a 23rd model to be announced later this summer, the company said.
