Boat builder goes on second hiring spree this year
OCONTO, Wis. – Luxury yacht manufacturer Cruisers Yachts plans to add more than 50 new crew members to its Oconto facility immediately due to the production and assembly of the company’s new 30-foot yacht – the 300 Express – which will begin in late July, the company said this morning in a press release.
The new jobs created are but the latest in a string of additional hires for Cruisers Yachts, which, even before its most recent announcement, had added 42 new employees to its Oconto facility since Jan. 1, according to the boat builder.
The company’s growth has resulted in a 7-percent increase for its headquarters and an estimated financial impact of $1.1 million annually for northeast Wisconsin’s economy. In total, the hires of this year combine to a 20-percent increase for the company’s Oconto facility and a $2.5 million annual financial impact, Cruisers Yachts said.
“The general improvement in the nation’s economy, as well as the increased demand for boats of this size, has prompted us to add a yacht of this caliber to the 2005 Express fleet,” said Rick Jelinski, general manager of Cruisers Yachts. “This follows on the heels of the successful introduction of our 50-foot express cruiser this past February.”
