N.J. workshop to be held on Clean Vessel Act
BRICK, N.J. – The New Jersey Clean Vessel Act Steering Committee will be holding a special workshop to provide educational information about the Clean Vessel Act Program and to provide marina owners and municipalities tips on how to find funding, install pumpout stations and dump stations, and operate pumpout vessels, the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey said in a release this morning.
The one-day workshop – intended as an important part of preventing sewage from entering waterways – will be held on June 9 at the Garden State Marina in Somers Point, N.J.
There are five pumpout vessels in operation in the State of New Jersey and 178 pumpout facilities have been installed since the inception of the program. In 2003, approximately 30,000 pumpouts were performed and over 600,000 gallons of sewage were collected, according to the association.
The workshop is free and includes the educational seminars, resource materials, and a continental breakfast. Space is limited and advance registration is strongly recommended.
