Newport Spring Boat Show expands in more ways than one

NEWPORT, R.I. – More in-water display space and an extra day have been added, and more professional brokers are expected for the 30th Newport Spring Boat Show, scheduled for May 20-23 at the Newport Yachting Center, according to a release from show organizers yesterday.

Over 50 Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA) members and a large number of New England boat dealers exhibited nearly 165 boats in a total of 280 exhibits in the water, on land and under tents at last year’s show, and organizers said they expect a bigger turnout this year. YBBA is in its fourth year of association with the show, according to organizers.

“The Spring Show offers buyers a unique opportunity since it’s an in-water show at the very start of the boating season,” said Nancy Piffard, show director. “Boats are ready for delivery right from the show, when people are looking to get on the water.”

The show has added a Preview Day, running from 3-7 p.m. on May 20, so “serious boat buyers can get ‘first dibs’ on their selection,” according to organizers.
