Boater’s World doubles size of distribution center

BELTSVILLE, Md. – Boater’s World Marine Centers has opened an expanded distribution center in Denton, Md., doubling its size to 200,000 sq. ft., the company reported in a release today.

The expanded warehouse, along with a distribution center in Topeka, Kan., will supply the inventory for all Boater’s World stores and for the Boater’s World Web site, the company said.

The Denton facility was also updated technologically and will use a new picking system. A state-of-the-art radio frequency picking and scanning method will allow the warehouse to double the amount of orders it fills per day, according to Boater’s World.

Boater’s World Vice President Bob Elton was the person responsible for the logistics of the expansion, the company said.

“Building our new distribution center was a necessary step with the increased size of both our Master Catalog and Cruising Catalog,” Elton said. “Thousands of new products have been added this year, and with the growing number of new Boater’s World stores, we needed a larger location to serve our needs.”
