MIASF to hold eighth-annual Plywood Regatta

Thirty-six teams of middle school, high school and marine technical school students will attempt to build sea-worthy vessels on May 15 using simple hand-tools and only the supplied materials of plywood, fast cure caulk and a spool of wire. The next day, participants will line up the finished craft race in a series of heats for the Fort Lauderdale Mariners Club Trophy, MIASF said.

“MIASF recognizes these young Plywood Regatta participants as future boaters and workers in the recreational marine industry and seeks to provide them with opportunities for growth and development,” said Gordon Connell, MIASF public relations and events coordinator.
