Defender reports record sales
WATERFORD, Conn. – Defender Industries Inc.’s same-store sales increased 24.2 percent in March and 25 percent in the first quarter 2004 over the same periods one year ago, according to a company statement released yesterday.
Continuing a trend seen in recent months, sales of inflatable boats and outboard motors led Defender’s 20 primary product categories again in March, followed by electronics, Defender said.
“These record sales numbers represent both the largest single month and the largest first quarter in Defender’s 66-year history, said Al Knupp, Defender executive director. “March increases were driven by record sales during Defender’s annual Warehouse Sale promotion, posting a 27-percent increase over the 2003 event.”
“These two milestones are very significant for Defender,” said Stephan Lance, Defender vice president. “2003 was another very good year for us, but this tops them all.”
