Boater’s World signs up for MRAA Learning Center

OAK PARK, Ill. -– A number of the nation’s largest marine retailers are going online for training of their staffs at the Marine Retailers Association of America’s (MRAA) Learning Center, including Boater’s World, which has enrolled its management and sales staff, according to a press release from the association.

Florida-based Boat Tree has also enrolled some of its employees and California-based Bayport Yachts and New York’s Glenn Marine have also made commitments and are enrolling personnel, MRAA said.

Sima Marine, a multi-location dealer based out of East Lake, Ohio, has 40 employees enrolled in the MRAA Learning Center. They are on their second set of courses, MRAA said.

“One of the many great things about the MRAA Learning Center is the flexibility to train your employees, in the areas they need most.” said John Sima, president of Sima Marine. “This is done, using the results of the testing of each of your employees at the start of the training program. A side benefit, as an employer, I also learned a lot about my work force and where I needed to make changes in my company practices.”

The MRAA Learning Center was born out of the Marine Industry Certification program.

“Dealers recognized the need for high quality, quick, effective training that didn’t break the bank,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA president. “They wanted to better serve their customer base and still present a proper boating experience. The learning center offers that option in a cost effective method.”
