Bombardier restructuring leads to layoffs
STURTEVANT, Wis. – Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) laid off 12 white-collar workers from its outboard engine business in Sturtevant, Wis. this week, said company spokesman Dave Thompson in an interview yesterday.
“As part of the restructuring of BRP following the sale of the company, we are rationalizing our newly combined office operations,” Thompson explained. “The result is a centralization of areas including marketing, sales, customer relations, design and engineering.”
Thompson added that no manufacturing jobs were impacted. He also said that Bombardier is known for taking good care of employees who are let go.
The company denied that the layoffs were in any way related to the recent announcement that Brunswick Corp. plans to buy Genmar’s aluminum boat brands.
