Bass Pro Shops to open specialty store in Branson

BRANSON, Mo. – Bass Pro Shops will open a store in Branson, Mo. in March 2006 as part of a $300 million development that is planned to stretch along the Lake Taneycomo waterfront of the resort town when completed, according to a press release yesterday from Urban Retail Properties Co., which is managing the Branson Landing project.

In a joint announcement, Bass Pro Shops officials, Branson Mayor Lou Schaeffer and Branson Landing developer Rick Huffman said an agreement had been signed for the Branson Bass Pro Shops store, which could be as large as 60,000 sq. ft., according to the release.

The store will feature an operating marina, guide service, boat rental and boat service center, the statement reported.

“It is our feeling that this unique specialty store will complement our store in Springfield, which is Missouri’s No. 1 tourist attraction,” said Bass Pro Shops President Jim Hagale. “It is our hope that the Branson store will introduce more people to fishing and the water resources that make this part of the country so special.”

“The announcement of Bass Pro Shops joining Branson Landing is pivotal to our ability to properly merchandise the project,” said Ross B. Glickman, CEO of Urban Retail Properties Co., the retail management company contracted by HCW Development to lease and manage Branson Landing.
