Mississippi boat show’s attendance increases

BILOXI, Miss. – The Biloxi Boat and RV Show, which normally draws about 15,000 people, ended yesterday with organizers believing the turnout this year will be approximately 18,000, according to a story in today’s Biloxi Sun Herald.

Dan Miller, president of Gulf Coast Boat Show in Mobile, Ala., told the newspaper it was a near-record year for the 35th-annual show, which featured 25 dealers from across the Southeast.

“I think the numbers will top what we usually have,” Miller said. “It has been a great show, probably the finest we’ve had. The good thing is that every segment is showing record sales.”

Miller said boat sales were up compared to last year, and he expects the total attendance, which is normally 15,000, to reach the 18,000 mark, based on good weather and an improving economy.
