IBEX U sees a 3 percent attendance increase

BROOKLIN, Maine – The attendance of boatbuilding professionals at IBEX U 2004 last week in Rockport, Maine, was up three percent over the premier regional IBEX U trade show and conference held in Portland, Maine, in 2002, an IBEX release reported yesterday.

Over the course of two-day event (Feb. 25-26) 612 qualified marine professionals visited IBEX U, held at the Samoset Resort, to source boatbuilding products and processes in the exhibit halls and/or to take part in the 12 concentrated seminars, IBEX said.

Exhibitors reported receiving many qualified sales leads, and attendees considered the education and product-display to be invaluable to their local businesses, making IBEX U 2004 one of the most successful regional trade events to date, the press release said.

“We at IBEX U continue to be encouraged by the trade’s support of our events,” said Carl Cramer, show director for IBEX U. “As we consider our choice of regions in which to hold events in the coming years, we’ll certainly include Maine on a regular basis.”

IBEX U 2004, owned and produced by Professional BoatBuilder magazine, hosted almost 50 marine-industry companies in the exhibition area where many technologies were introduced for the first time to New England boatbuilders, IBEX said.
