Haulover Park Marina expansion underway

MIAMI – Ground was broken on a $9-million expansion at Haulover Park Marina that will add more than 45 boat slips, a dockmaster’s office, two lifts and a wave baffler to protect boats docked at the marina, a story in today’s Miami Herald said.

The project, to be funded through a Miami-Dade bond, a state grant and other sources, is expected to be completed sometime in the spring of 2005, Miami-Dade Parks Department Director Vivian Donnell told the newspaper.

Miami-Dade Commissioner Sally Heyman, who said she grew up swimming at Haulover Park, pledged a speedy completion to the project, according to the story.

”Bury the bureaucracy and move this project ahead,” Heyman said.
