Genmar sees double-digit sales increases

MINNEAPOLIS – Genmar Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries have seen double-digit increases in sales during the last two months, compared to the same period last year, according to a Genmar statement released this morning.

With the launch of its new 65-foot Marquis and 63-foot Nuvari at the Miami International Boat Show, Carver Yachts recorded a dollar gain of nearly 75 percent over the 2003 event, while Glastron saw unit sales climb more than 175 percent and Larson grew its unit sales in Miami by 23 percent, Genmar said.

The company also reported Hydra-Sports units were up 14 percent and Seaswirl unit sales rose 35 percent. Genmar’s Four Winns and Ranger brands also recorded large increases in units and dollars.

A 25-percent increase in unit sales for Stratos was reported, and Ranger has grown its units by more than 23 percent. Four Winns, a manufacturer of cruisers and runabouts, boosted its unit sales more than 23 percent compared to the same period last year. Lowe Boats is up 18 percent in unit sales while Seaswirl has jumped 12 percent, Genmar said.

“The Miami International Boat Show was indicative of what we’ve seen across the country,” said Genmar Chairman Irwin Jacobs. “We have been extremely pleased with the 2004 boat show season and believe it’s an indication that the economy is improving. The quality of the customers at this year’s shows has been outstanding, and we expect this positive trend to translate into strong spring sales.

Genmar’s bass boats, recreational boats and cruisers have demonstrated exceptionally strong, consistent growth, the company said.
