University of Maine’s AEWC to exhibit at IBEX U Rockport

ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine’s Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center (AEWC) will be exhibiting its composite materials research, development, and testing results at Professional BoatBuilder magazine’s IBEX U Rockport trade event, organizers reported in a statement yesterday.

The AEWC Center, with its eight laboratories capable of developing composite materials and structures from the conceptual stage through research, manufacturing prototypes, and subsequent testing and evaluation, intend to display their latest research and R&D capabilities at the event, according to organizers.

“The purpose of IBEX U is to bring the latest technologies available to the marine industry into the hands of regional boatbuilders,” Carl Cramer, show director for IBEX U, said. “The AEWC Center will introduce New England boat building professionals to some advanced materials they’ve never seen before.”

IBEX U will also present a new conference program specifically designed to meet the needs of regional boat building professionals in the northeastern United States.

In addition to the AEWC Center, IBEX U will host more than 50 OEMs, manufacturers, and suppliers of boat building products and processes in two exhibit halls.
