MRAA offers rebuttals to manufacturers’ talking points

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA) has issued a list of point-by-point rebuttals to help dealers refute the “talking points” it says “the manufacturing community is using with legislators to oppose dealer agreement bills.”

The MRAA attached a copy of some of the talking points and its suggested rebuttals to a memo it sent to “Industry Partners” on February 18.

“Some of the ‘talking points’ are gross misrepresentations and some are blatantly untrue,” said MRAA in the memo. “Feel free to use these rebuttals as you find the necessity to do so.”

The talking points to which MRAA issued rebuttals included:

  • The legislation making it difficult for brand owners to demand high standards
  • There is little incentive for franchise operators to give top performance under the proposed legislation
  • Why the marine industry is not like the automotive industry
