Newport Boats sets sales record at Los Angeles show

ORANGE, Calif. – Southern California Sea Ray dealer Newport Boats of Orange County broke its own sales record at the 48th Annual Los Angeles Boat Show, Sea Ray reported in a statement yesterday.

Newport sold 123 boats, including 11 sport yachts, the company said.

“It was our best show ever,” Renee Ascencio, vice president of Newport Boats said. “This represents nearly a 100 percent increase over last year’s boat sales.”

Some of Newport’s top sellers included the 220 Sundeck and 260 Sundancer, followed closely by the 390 and 480 motor yachts.

Newport Boats attributed its strong showing at this year’s show to its product, a marketing strategy that targeted current and new-to-boating customers and knowledgeable sales personnel.

“This year we put a lot of energy into identifying our boat show target audience. We utilized our internal database of current and past customers to set up appointments with them prior to the show. The results were outstanding and indicative of our ‘intimacy’ approach,” Ascencio said. “A large number of our sales at the show this year came from referrals.”

Newport Boat’s sales results are being replicated across the country, according to Rob Noyes, Sea Ray’s vice president of marketing.

“This year’s boat show season is one of the strongest Sea Ray has experienced to date,” said Noyes.
