NMMA, MIASF and MIAF partner to address manatee problem
MIAMI, Fla. – The National Marine Manufacturers Association, Marine Industries Association of South Florida and Marine Industries Association are partnering to address the “serious environmental problem” of manatees, said Thom Dammrich at a press event this morning.
The NMMA president reported that it will provide funding to expand the MIASF’s “Our Waterways, Our Future” campaign beyond South Florida to other areas in the state “where the manatee issue threatens to impact boating and our industry.”
“The purpose of this campaign is to correct misconceptions in the mainstream media that boaters and the boating industry are unconcerned and unwilling to address the issue,” said Dammrich.
MIASF will continue to provide overall direction for the campaign, while Joe Lewis of the MIAF will serve as the statewide coordinator and KSR will provide public relations support to the campaign, said Dammrich.
