NMMA honors five innovative products
MIAMI, Fla., – The National Marine Manufacturers Association today recognized two boats, two consumer electronics products and a boogie board with its “Innovation Awards” – the recreational boating industry’s highest honor for product excellence – at the Miami International Boat Show.
Members of Boating Writers International, who serve as the judges for the program, honored these five products in the following categories, a press release said:
* Surfango – Power Body Board, Inflatibles/Small Boats and Tenders
* Hunter Marine – Hunter 216, Sailboats – Monohull
* Triumph Boats – Windsor Craft Pontoon Boat, PWC/Jetboats/Pontoons
* Marelux – Yacht Controller, Consumer Electronics
* SkyMate – SkyMate 100, Consumer Electronics
The Surfango Power Body Board has a hand acceleration component attatched to a sturdy unit mounted across the middle of the board to allow Surfango’s Power Surfboard to become a Power Polo Board.
Hunter Marine’s Hunter 216, chosen unanimously by the judges, is the largest thermoformed sailboat in the world the release said. Formed by heating large sheets of ABS plastic, then drawing them down over male molds, hull and deck are both reinforced with high-density closed cell foam which is injected between a fiberglass mat and the formed plastic sheet. The boat is said to be five times more impact resistant than conventional fiberglass.
The Windsor Craft Pontoon Boat, from Triumph Boats, is designed with the comapany’s patented Roplene Technology, allowing the vessel to be called the world’s only saltwater pontoon.
Marelux Yacht Controller gives the inexperienced owner a small handheld device to completely control the movement of the yacht, eliminating the need to be anchored at a helm station with poor visibility and depth perception. It is especially useful for docking, the press release said.
The Skymate 100 offers boaters five services – e-mail messaging, text and graphic weather, position reporting, fax/voice messaging and remote monitoring – in a product small enough to fit on most any boat
