Florida marina named 2003 ‘Marina of the Year’

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In recognition of its excellence in business practices, regulatory compliance above and beyond the call of duty, close attention to customer service, profitability, training, community involvement and dedication to the recreational marine industry, Harbour Towne Marina was named the 2003 Marina of the Year by Marina Dock Age magazine, a press release said.

Harbour Towne Marina, – a four-season facility encompassing 33-acres with over 20 professional marine related businesses in Dania Beach, Broward County’s oldest city – is one of the Westrec Marinas Southern Region and was to be presented with the award during a breakfast Saturday by Marina Dock Age’s publisher, Janice Gordon.

“We had many exceptional marinas enter from around the United States, but Harbour Towne Marina truly stood out,” owner of Preston Publications, Marina Dock Age magazine’s publisher, Tinsley Preston said,”

Preston went on to say that Harbour Towne Marina succeeded in securing the title because of its effective marketing policies, customer satisfaction, value-added services to new and repeat customers, vested employees, environmental responsibility, and its donation of time and talent to the marine industry and its community.

“I think our business practice, customer service and continued recognition for our excellence in environmental controls and policies contributed to this award,” Harbour Towne Marina’s dockmaster Brad St.Coeur said. “Our standard of operation is one of the highest in the business.”

Harbour Towne is the first marina in South Florida to receive simultaneous “Clean Marina” and “Clean Boatyard” designations from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection and was also the recipient of Green Boatyard Award, the 2002 and 2003 Broward County Emerald Awards and the 2002 Emerald Award Annual Trophy for the category of Innovative Procedures and Process Improvement, the press release said.
