Genmar production facility receives ISO 9001:2000 certification

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Sarasota production facilities of Aquasport, Hydra-Sports and Wellcraft Marine – all part of the Genmar power boat family – have been certified for the International Organization for Standardization’s newest registration, ISO 9001:2000, a company press release said.

The ISO 9001 provides for a set of universal standards for a quality assurance system that is accepted around the world, and contains 23 interrelated requirements, which promote the adoption of a process approach when developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system.

The overall goal of the ISO approach is to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements.

The new ISO 9001:2000 registration differs from the previous ISO standards because of its greater emphasis on customer satisfaction, continual improvement and a sound, systematic approach to business. Wellcraft became the first Genmar brand to earn its ISO 9001 Registration in May 2001.

”We worked hard to attain the newest level of ISO certification for the entire manufacturing facility in Sarasota,” said Dean Samuelson, president of the three brands manufactured at the plant. “The ISO 9001:2000 registration attests to the quality of product we build here and the processes we follow.”
