NMEA schedules R.I. marine electronics installer program

SEVERNA PARK, M.D. – The National Marine Electronics Association has scheduled its Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) Training and Testing course to take place in Rhode Island in early spring, it reported in a recent statement.

The course is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Providence Marriott in Providence, R.I.

The program has been developed to encourage a high level of professional expertise in entry-level technicians, and encourage them to seek Certified Marine Electronic Technician (CMET) status, according to the association.

The MEI certificate is an indication of working knowledge of NMEA’s Installation Standard, which clarifies and defines competent installation practices, it stated.

A Marine Electronics Installer demonstrates this proficiency by passing an examination designed to measure understanding of those principles. A panel of industry veterans will present an overview of each of the sections and students will have the opportunity to take the MEI test at the end of the class.

Pre-registration and tuition are required. Contact NMEA at
info@nmea.org for more information.
