Chicago show attendance up 7 percent

CHICAGO, Ill. – Attendance was up 7 percent despite ice and snow during the Chicago Boat, RV & Outdoors Show, held January 21-25, reported show organizer the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) in a statement yesterday.

Exhibitors noted that the 51,866 show attendees were in a spending mood, according to NMMA.

“People were here to buy. They knew what they wanted. [We] sold more boats on the first day of the show than all of last year,” said Travis Quass with Correct Craft dealer Lauderdale Lakes Marina.

“Great attitude toward boating, summer, and boat buying, in general. Lots of people were knowledgeable and came to buy boats,” said Rallee Chupich, Gordy’s Lakefront Marina, seller of Cobalt Boats.

The McCormick Place North Building again housed more than 600 boats, more than 200 recreational vehicles, and hundreds of exhibition booths offering outdoor products.
